South Carolina Automobile Dealers Association
NORTH-SOUTH ALL STAR FOOTBALL GAME

Theselections have made for the 60th annual South
Carolina Automobile Dealers Association North-South All-
Star football game. The game will be played on December
8th at Coastal Carolina University in Conway.
The complete rosters for the SCADA North-South All-Star
Football game are available at www.
northsouthallstarfootball.com. The web site includes All-
Star schedules, event information and ticket information.
“The great feature of the SCADA North-South All-Star
game is that players from all the different regions and
classifications are represented on this roster,” said Keith
Richardson, the Executive Secretary of the South Carolina
Athletic Coaches Association. The SCACA has presented
the game each year since 1947 when the first game was
played in Columbia.
Players from the top ranked teams this season are
included on the roster. The Byrnes Rebels, the top ranked
AAAA team in South Carolina will send linebacker Curtis
Thompson and wide receiver Randall Hawkins to Myrtle
Beach for the game.
The top ranked AA team from Abbeville will be
represented by running back Toquavius Gilcrist.
A pair of Myrtle Beach Seahawks will not have far to
travel to participate in this year’s all-star clash. Wide
receiver Eddie Jones and linebacker Evan Rose from the
top ranked AAA team in the state will almost have another
home game.
“We watched every inch of tape that was sent to us and I
think we picked a very good team to represent the North,”
said Ron Blackmon of North Central High School, the
North head coach. “We have some big time recruits, we
have some star players and we have some players who
earned their way into this game with their play this year,”
he said.
South head coach Larry Sechrist of St John’s High School
noted how difficult it was to make many of the selections
for his team. “The first twenty were pretty easy but after
that it got very hard to pick the rest of the team. We are
fortunate to have a lot of outstanding players in the South
this year and the selection process was difficult,” he said.
The SCADA North-South All-Star roster is composed of
players who first must be recommended by their high
school coach. They are selected by the games coaching
staffs after careful review of video tape from the current
season.
“We got a jump on things this year by going to some of
the combines that were held in the summer,” said
Sechrist. “Those combines helped us identify players but
they still had to show us something on the field during the
year to make our team and that is why we watched so
much tape,” he added.
Both coaches believe they have selected players on
offense that have the ability to put on a good show for
fans at this year’s game.
“We have two types of quarterbacks. We have one who
can stand back in the pocket and throw the ball very
effectively. We also have a quarterback who we can put
the ball in his hands and he can run the option and make
something happen,” said Sechrist.
“We run a Wing-T at my school but that doesn’t mean we
are going to do that in the All-Star game. We have some
coaches who know the spread offense and we are going
to use their knowledge to move the ball around, but I
believe you need to run the ball to have success and we
are going to be able to do both,” said Blackmon.
All-Star players will begin their week of activities at Myrtle
Beach on Sunday, December 2nd. The practice schedules
and activities are similar to a college bowl schedule for
the All-Star players and coaches.
“The players have a great time at Myrtle Beach during the
week. They work hard during the day but they have a lot of
fun when they are not on the football field. They eat at
great restaurants, stay at ocean front hotels and enjoy off
the field activities they can only experience at Myrtle
Beach,” said Richardson.
The Regions Bank North-South Awards Presentation
precedes the SCADA North-South All-Star game on Friday,
December 7th at the Myrtle Beach High School
Performing Arts Center.
The All-Star teams will be recognized and the 2007
winner of the Mr. Football in South Carolina will be
presented. Last year Malcolm Long of Gaffney won the
award as the top player in South Carolina.
Tickets for the game and the Awards presentation are
$10 in advance and $15 on the day of the event. Tickets
and game information is available at www.
